A Call for DSAC Publishing Hub - Publishers
The Department of Sport, Arts and Culture (DSAC) has appointed the Academic and Non-Fiction Authors
Association of South Africa (ANFASA) to administer the DSAC Publishing Hub. To enable a successful
production process, ANFASA requires the services of reputable South African publishers to publish books from the successful manuscripts acquired through an Open Call process.
The DSAC Publishing Hub is an industry stimulus project to support authors and revitalise the books and
publishing industry, and to encourage the creation of new literature telling our stories, written by local authors, and to preserve our heritage.
1. BACKGROUND
The Terms of Reference describe the objectives, scope of work, deliverables, roles, and responsibilities, inclusive of time frame and period for the project. ANFASA will:
- Announce a call for authors to submit their manuscripts.
- Appoint a selection panel to review, shortlist and recommend shortlisted manuscripts.
- Ensure that the selection panel undertakes developmental editing with the authors of the successful manuscripts.
2. SCOPE OF WORK
The appointed publisher must ensure the successful production, marketing, and distribution of quality books,
aligned to the contract entered into with ANFASA.

COSTS AND TIMELINES
A production amount of
R 80 000 has been allocated for each book. The deadline to submit the published books will be 30 October 2026
