Deputy Minister Nocawe Mafu

The National Department of Sport, Arts and Culture, Deputy Minister Nocawe Mafu in collaboration with the KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Government will today, Saturday, 21st of October 2023 host the BRICS Games official closing ceremony at the Kings Park Pool, Durban in the KwaZulu-Natal Province.               

Now underway across the five venues within the eThekwini Metropolitan Metro, the 5th BRICS Games 2023 will officially conclude on Saturday afternoon with a grand closing ceremony. Various semi-finals and finals are currently underway until the 21st of October from 10h00-17h00 with various medal ceremonies for Swimming, (Kings Park Swimming Pool); Badminton (UKZN Old Mutual Sports Hall); Table Tennis (UKZN Westville Campus Indoor Hall); Tennis (Curro Hillcrest High School); and Beach Volleyball (Bay of Plenty).

Joined by the BRICS nations’ delegates, KwaZulu-Natal leadership representatives and various sports federations, Deputy Minister Mafu will present accolades in recognition of athletes who have done exceptionally well during the 4-day international sport championship. The BRICS flags will officially be handed over to the Russian Federation as the 2024 host nation.
