The announcement of Minister Gayton McKenzie was made last night by His Excellency, President Cyril Ramaphosa during the much-anticipated introduction of the Government of National Unity new Cabinet.
Mr Gayton McKenzie takes over the vacated ministerial position as the minister for the national Department of Sport, Arts and Culture, an executive position previously held by former Minister, Mr Zizi Kodwa who resigned earlier on the 5th of June.
Meanwhile, the President also announced Ms. Peace Mabe as the new Deputy Minister for the national Department of Sport, Arts and Culture. The incumbent takes over from the former Deputy Minister, Ms Nocawe Mafu.
“The Department would like to take this opportunity and officially welcome the new leadership. We are looking forward to their dedication and leadership in ensuring a sustainable growth within the Creative & Cultural Industries; promotion and preservation of our heritage sector, as well as the development of sports sector”, stated the Acting Director-General, Dr Cynthia Khumalo.
The Department would like to thank the former ministers for their profound leadership in steering the sport, arts, culture and heritage sectors forward. We wish them all the best in their future endeavours.
