The Government invites members of the media to apply for accreditation to cover the 2026 National Youth Day Commemoration.

This year’s commemoration marks the 50th Anniversary of the 1976 Youth Uprising, one of the defining moments in South Africa’s liberation struggle. Youth Day is commemorated annually on 16 June to honour the courage and sacrifices of the youth of 1976.

The Deputy Minister of Sport, Arts and Culture, Ms Peace Mabe, in partnership with Old School, will attend the Bafana Legends Signing event on Sunday, 31 May 2026 at the Old School Store in Sandton, Gauteng.

Change of arrangement: Minister Gayton McKenzie And Deputy Minister Peace Mabe to table the 2026 budget vote virtually

Minister of Sport, Arts and Culture, Mr Gayton McKenzie, and Deputy Minister Ms Peace Mabe will table the 2026 Budget Vote Speech virtually before the National Assembly on Tuesday, 12 May 2026, due to adverse weather conditions.

The dialogue will take place at the Norman Doubell Hall in Heidedal, Mangaung, in partnership with the Free State Office of the Premier; the Provincial Department of Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation; Mangaung Metropolitan Municipality; and other stakeholders.
