The National Film & Video Foundation (NFVF) is a statutory body mandated by parliament to spearhead the development of the South African film and video industry.
The NFVF is guided by a council consisting of highly respected film professionals with diverse expertise in the film and television industry.
Mission - Collaborate with all stakeholders in supporting the development and promotion of a thriving South African film industry.
Vision - A viable film industry that represents the nation's aspirations and celebrates our diversity.
NFVF seeks to:
- Increase the number of SA films and PDIs producing them.
- Increase audience access to SA films.
- Increase number of people trained in the industry, particularly in areas of shortage of skills
- To promote Social Cohesion and promote opportunities to express the nations stories through film.
Funding
The National Film & Video Foundation provides film and video-related funding in four broad categories:

Individuals, companies and organisations may submit funding applications to the NFVF for grants or grant loans in any of the four funding categories; education and training, script development, production, marketing and distribution.
Specific conditions are applicable in each funding category, and it is important for applicants to take careful note of these conditions before submitting an application.
