In terms of the Cultural Institutions Act, 1998 (Act 119 of 1998), the Minister of Sport, Arts and Culture, Mr G. Mckenzie invites members of the performing arts (Playhouse/Theatres) fraternity and the public to nominate persons to serve as members of Council for the following Performing Arts Institution (Cultural Institution): Performing Arts Centre of the Free State (Bloemfontein , Free State)

Members of the public, universities, communities and/or traditional councils are hereby invited to nominate suitable indigenous knowledge holders to be considered for appointment to be considered for documentation as Living Human Treasures in line with the National Policy on South African Living Heritage.

Living human treasures are persons who possess, to a very high degree, the knowledge and skills required for performing or recreating specific elements of the living heritage.

Oliewenhuis Art Museum invites South African visual artists to submit a solo exhibition proposal for consideration for placement on the Museum’s exhibition calendar.

Artists who meet the criteria for a solo exhibition will be shortlisted for placement on the exhibition calendar within the next four years, at one of the suitable gallery venues at Oliewenhuis Art Museum. Artists are encouraged to familiarise themselves with the various gallery options available. Outdoor exhibitions can also be accommodated within reason.

Women in Heritage programme to be hosted in KwaZulu-Natal Province

The National Heritage Council of South Africa (NHC), in collaboration with the Provincial Department of Sport, Arts and Culture, will host the Women in Heritage celebration programme on Tuesday, 24 February 2026, in KwaZulu-Natal, under the theme: “Honouring her legacy, Women Shaping Our Heritage Future”.

Invitation to serve on the National Arts Council Audit and Risk Committee

Main purpose: To provide oversight on behalf of the Council of the National Arts Council (NAC) on the effectiveness of the control environment, compliance with legal and regulatory procedures, financial reporting, risk management procedures, internal and external audit functions, and other matters as outlined in the Public Finance Management Act (PFMA) and Treasury Regulations.

Description

  • The National Arts Council of South Africa (NAC) is a Schedule 3A public entity in terms of the Public Finance Management Act (PFMA), 1 of 1999. The NAC is governed by the National Arts Council Act, 56 of 1997 as amended by the Cultural Laws Amendment Act, 36 of 2001 and is responsible for development of the arts sector in South Africa.
  • The NAC is seeking to appoint 2 (two) suitable qualified and experienced persons to serve as members of the Audit and Risk Committee (ARC).
  • The Committee is governed by an approved ARC Charter and meets at least 4 times per annum.
